I know of no linux-centric shops here locally, but here's what i do know:
nearest linux-centric computer shop that i KNOW of, is in Chattanooga:
http://www.radiatedcomputers.com/
also:
There is a man on the Birmingham Linux User Group named Mr. Panzer (are you
on this list Panzer?) who has, in the past, made reference to owning a
computer shop in Birmingham (I may have interpreted that wrong, it may be
repair and not sales). I don't know the name of the place, but here's
Panzer's email address: panzermkz at hotmail.com
That being said, if this computer is just going to be used for
email/web/docs you might want to take a look at some of the nettop boxes
(like the Asus eeebox, and the MSI Wind nettop - or even the MSI WindTop
with the snazzy touchscreen) they have at $corporate_computer_store.
You probably won't find one running linux (unless you look online), but for
a low impact computer owned by an average (read: non-linux-nut) person
Winders may be the way to go.
